Cookie Time !!!

Girl Scout cookie season is right around the corner here in Utah.  I have been busy, busy, preparing troops for the cookie sale, which starts in January.  Along the way, I found a delicious recipe and learned how to make a cute necklace that I wanted to share with you.  So, follow along....

What can a cookie do?  MORE than you see!

Sunnyside Cookie Monster's Necklace

I made a necklace for each of my team of Girl Scout Troop Cookie Managers.  There are about 20+, so I needed something quick, inexpensive and CUTE.  I am so happy with how these necklaces turned out.  A shout out to I Heart Nap Time for the idea!

This necklace was quick to make with a dime, a printed graphic, cut to a size just a little larger than the dimes, some E-6000, Diamond Glaze, a glue-on bail and a ball-chain (1.49 at Ben Franklin!) and a "grinder" file for sanding, which I forgot to put in the picture.  Instead of Diamond Glaze you could use Mod Podge's Dimensional Magic for this project.

1. Spread a thin layer of E-6000 on both the dime and the paper.  Allow to dry overnight.  2. Use a "grinder" nail file to sand off the paper overlap.
3. Apply Diamond Glaze, a layer a time - let it dry between each layer - until the dome/height is pleasing to you.  It's cloudy looking at first, but becomes crystal clear after it is dry.
4. Next, glue the bail on the back with some more E-6000 and allow to dry.
5. Attach the chain.

Ta-da! you now have a sweet necklace.
Bonus!  You can add glitter, embellishments, etc while Diamond Glaze is still wet.

Girl Scout Cookies Recipe! How great is that?

LIttle Brownie Bakers does such a great job each year.  They provide clipart and loads of information and activities on their website, all geared towards helping us be the best Girl Scout volunteers we can be.
Savannah
Smiles Lemon Chiffon Pie or Tarts

CRUST
1 pkg Savannah Smiles cookies, crushed
1/4 C butter, (half stick) melted

FILLING
1-3.5oz pkg Lemon Jello
1 cup boiling water
1-8oz pkg cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1-8oz tub whipped topping, divided
Lemon slices

Mix Jello and boiling water until Jello is dissolved.  Refrigerate for about a half-hour or until partially set.  In the meantime, prepare crust by mixing together butter and crushed cookies.  Reserve 1/3-cup of prepared crumbs.  Press remainder into a pie plate or divide and press into muffin cups.

Prepare filling by mixing together softened cream cheese and sugar.  Mix in partially-set Jello.  Gently fold in half of the whipped topping until completely mixed.

For pie, spoon the filling mixture into the prepared pie crust.  For tarts, spoon filling into a large ziploc bag.  Snip off one corner of bag and pipe into muffin cups.

Top pie or tarts with the remaining whipped topping and sprinkle reserved crumbs on top along with a lemon slice, or for tarts, small pieces of a lemon slice.  Yummy to eat and look at!

Update

...just noticed that I hadn't been here for quite sometime!  Surgery in January, PT after that for a couple months and life in general.  Here are a few designs I have been working with.  I have been learning soldering and plan to post more projects from my latest flurry soon.

This is a really cute necklace to wear with a t-shirt and
it can be made in any color combo.

My daughters wanted custom-made clips to go with their girls' outfits
...so I made bows!
...then they wanted flower clips, so I made some more!
Tiny Trees ornament design from Christmas 2010.  I love the texture
of the elements.  I am working on a Utah themed ornament now.
This is my favorite spiral weave necklace design.
Larger seed bead core with a silver bugle bead outer
spiral.  This would be so pretty with a brown
outer spiral.  Do you agree?
My Flutterbyes design.  This necklace morphed a little...
I made the dangles interchangeable so it could
be worn for lots of occasions or just like it is.
It was fun to take a moment to post...but now I need to get back to the workbench.
